about

Tracks Time Total: 50'53"

Calm "Futures of Yesterdays" Calling is a mash-up of the tracks from the Calm Callings EP and other tracks like 'Future of Yesterday' which is also a part of the album title. This album being like an extended version of the Calm Callings EP takes you on an adventure and escape for your body and mind leading you through trances and dreamscapes with its brightening and dark ambient soundscapes and distant airy sounding synths.

Enjoy a fair amount of songs that were inspired by some of Electronic Music's greats: Brian Eno, Christophe Franke, Edgar Froese, Jean Michel Jarre, Klaus Schulze, Kraftwerk, and so on just to name a few of my inspirations. Some may consider these tracks to be simplistic and minimal or complex and unpredictable at heart.

Track Listing & Backgrounds on Tracks :

1. An Invisible Light {2014} - 1:55

This intro track acts as a teaser for the album starting with a minimalist and ambient vibe carried by a melody that leads the background synth pads to an almost unfinished and unsatisfying end.

2. Calm Callings {2014} - 5:33

I came up with this tune on the 3rd of February, 2014 and built on it throughout the week trying to make it feel like there is a distant calling on the horizon, a call for purpose and reason and a hope for better things to come.

3. Escape at Midnight (3:45AM) {2016} - 4:16

This song came to mind when I just happened to be playing a few third chords on my keyboard and I chose certain ones that went well together in sequence and that's where the Intro sequence or chords bloomed the rest of the song with additional synths as well as the early descending three-key entrance of the bass line.

4. Gazing Up at the Past {2012} - 3:53

This is an instrumental that I came up with back in 2012. The song came together bit by bit over time while I was attending college. I find it has a bit of a hip hop vibe to it. Electro - Hip-Hop from MikeroSynth.

5. Treasures to Remember {2016} - 3:17

This is a tribute song to David Bowie, Prince, & Alan Rickman's passing in 2016, (at the time of their passings I wanted to make a song in tribute and honour of them) and other who've passed away as of the present day.

6. Future of Yesterday {2017} - 5:42

Description Coming Soon

With these first five tracks, I wanted to create two parts to the album. With the introduction of 'An Invisible Light' and the sendoff of 'Future of Yesterday' ending the first half of the album.

First Half Length: 24'32"

7. River Among the Stars {2016} - 3:55

This serves as an intro to the second half of the album introducing a new flow and tempo for the songs to come later. This is a song re-done up and improved from it's original version. The origin track bared the working title "Kollectively Klever", but I thought that with this new and improved, and yet more ambient rendition of that track I would give the name River Among the Stars.

8. Glitch in the System {2016} - 4:45

With this track, I wanted to make a somewhat song unique song a bit different from my other stuff. I first thought of starting with an odd time signature or another way you could put it is having the drum beat start on the offbeat of the synth riff hence one reason I went with the title of the track, "Glitch in the System". Then when the first transition happens going into the first bridge of the song the drum beat starts along with the riff, melody and rhythm and by the second transition going into the second bridge of the song, everything kind of comes together; the riff completes, the rhythm is satisfied and joined by other supporting rhythm and melodies. It feels and sounds complete.

I created this on the night of (10-01-2016).

9. Day of Memory {2014} - 3:01

This track draws influence from Brian Eno's collaborative album, 'Small Craft on a Milk Sea' with Jon Hopkins & Leo Abrahams. The title track 'Small Craft on a Milk Sea' was the sole influence and inspiration for this track. Secondly, this track also draws influence from The XX's opening track, Intro' from their debut album.

10 . Night Crisis {2016} - 4:33

I drew some inspiration from the Soundtrack of the video game Splinter Cell: Conviction. There is a Dark Ambient score that plays during one of the stealth missions (I forget the name of the Mission) and I thought I would make a rendition or tribute to the Splinter Cell video game series for having some outstanding scores/soundtracks to bring the games to life.

11. Leather Leaf {2015} - 4:59

"Leather Leaf" first started with the synth sequence you first hear and then the synth string fades in with it. Then the Lo-Fi synth sound that first comes in is the first half of the Synth Lead and that very quickly is blended and masked by the the other half which gives off a more clear sound along with meddling of modulation. When the song reaches the Chorus this is where I feel I wanted more impact and emotion. With the Plug-ins I have and the Amateur Mixing skills I bare, I tried messing around with the EQs, Reverbs and other forms of manipulation, and even though I didn't end up getting the big and spread out sound for the Chorus parts of the song I still feel this song is very close to being a complete and satisfactory song.

12. Stream of Sound (Storm of Lights) {2015} - 5:10

With this song I wanted to sort of create two songs within one. You get the first half of the song progressively getting more layered with synths and pads as it streams through its verses/bridges and choruses that then lead into the second half.

The second half is led by a melodic synth with a thunderstorm happening in the background. This melodic synth then is joined by another synth of the same kind, but in competition. They compete with each other through harmony and then the real breakouts happen in the chorus. Near the end the storm starts to settle down.

I first started working on this song back in mid-November of 2015. This song was quite a challenge when it came to mixing every sound into its fitting place (EQ-ing, Compressing, adjusting note velocity for certain sounds/synths), but I did it and I think I made a decent mix with my amateur mixing abilities. It may not be mixed by industry professionals, but hey. Enjoy!

about

Mikerosynth Toronto, Ontario

I've been going at making music since back in 2005 from being introduced to FL Studio by a friend. So ever since then, I have created quite a bit of concepts and ideas of songs. I went through some many names and finally landed on Mikerosynth, because I feel it just fits. I'm a one man group, but there's always room for more artists who'd want to join along with me. ... more
